Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth has brokered a solution to the stand-off between the Bank of Uganda and SACCOs over licensing. The 23 September agreement directs the Ministry of Finance to draft an amendment to the SACCO law while giving institutions more time to comply. BOU had warned that unlicensed SACCOs would be cut off from the banking system by 1 October 2026
